Coordinate Measuring Machine

As part of a continuing program to expand and improve its facility with the latest in CNC machining technology, Kahlenberg Industries is pleased to announce the addition of a new Browne & Sharpe Global Performance Coordinate Measuring Machine.

Well known for supplying a wide variety of machined components, Kahlenberg is adding the new CMM to its climate controlled inspection area in July 2011 for measuring parts up to 47” x 59” x 39”.  At Kahlenberg Industries, quality is a focus of company efforts, as is continuous improvement.   By increasing the speed and accuracy of parts inspection with this new CMM, customers will benefit from a cost savings as well as increased confidence that inspection has been carried out in the most precise way possible.

Kahlenberg European distribution company established

US manufacturer Kahlenberg Industries, Inc has appointed a new company, Kahlenberg UK Ltd, to handle the distribution of its full range of marine and industrial sound signals, sound signal controls, air compressors and accessories across all of Europe except Italy.

Kahlenberg UK Ltd has been created out of the success of sister company du Pré Marine following its appointment as an agent for Kahlenberg in 2009.

Kahlenberg UK Ltd Chairman Piers du Pré, who also owns the telecommunications and IT specialist du Pré plc, explains: “The du Pré Group has extensive experience of managing support to BSI standards and the knowledge of how to build and maintain a thriving customer base within the UK and in overseas markets.

du Pré Marine was formed to represent a very select, high quality range of niche marine products where full service back-up and a personal approach is required. As an active owner of an 18m trawler yacht I know how invaluable this is for leisure skippers, superyacht captains, vessel masters and ship managers alike.

“After a successful year representing Kahlenberg, selling into and supporting owners, boatbuilders, shipyards and managers, it was a natural step to create a dedicated company, Kahlenberg UK Ltd, to match the high quality of Kahlenberg products with direct support this side of the Atlantic.”

Kahlenberg UK Ltd will be based at the group headquarters in Newbury, Berkshire and benefit from an existing full service environment including in-house marketing, administration and stockholding. The company can instantly ship popular models and common spares from stock, for small leisure craft right up to products for vessels in excess of 200m. du Pré plc has installed a direct telephone line with Kahlenberg Industries to enable toll free communications between both companies.

Kahlenberg UK Ltd

Kahlenberg UK Ltd is a newly formed company owned by Piers du Pré, who is founding Chairman of the du Pré Group.

The du Pré group has been in business since 1987 and employs 100 people across two sites in the UK – Newbury in Berkshire and Yeovil in Somerset. Its activities include du Pré plc that undertakes nationwide BSI certified supply and support of telecommunications, IT provision and service, plus specialist supply and consultation for flexible working and business continuity services. The company also has its own VoIP phone product range, du Pré Connect, offering scalable telephone systems from two to several thousand extensions.

SL45 CNC Turning Center

Kahlenberg Industries adds High Speed Heavy Duty CNC Turning Center

 As part of a continuing program to expand and improve its facility with the latest technology in CNC machining, Kahlenberg Industries is pleased to announce the addition of a new high speed, heavy duty, slant bed turning center with live tools to its list of machining equipment.

Well known for supplying a wide variety of machined components, including larger turned parts of up to 84’’ diameter to heavy industry, Kahlenberg adds the Samsung SL45 Turning Center to machine turned components up to 24’’ diameter by 86’’ long.   With a tool indexing time of .2 seconds and a rigid 45 deg. slant bed, the SL45 is an unmatched combination of speed, accuracy, and heavy duty capability.   Ideal for machining parts that include additional milled or drilled features in a single setup, the SL45 in the hands of a skilled machinist provides an obvious benefit to Kahlenberg customers: a significant savings of time and money.

Scheduled to start production in July of 2011, the new Samsung SL45 Turning Center will add capacity for additional work in the Kahlenberg facility as well as improve machining efficiency of some parts currently in production.
